| Three routes caught my eye this week - and one of them is a genuine sweet spot |
If you've been sitting on a pile of Amex Membership Rewards points and wondering what to do with them, today's your day. A 30% transfer bonus to British Airways Avios and Aer Lingus Avios runs out in 24 days, and there's a wall of Hong Kong award availability just waiting to absorb them.
This week's issue is packed with Asia-Pacific deals in every cabin class - Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class - plus some of the best Hyatt hotel redemptions I've seen in months. The Park Hyatt Kyoto at 41,000 points per night is almost embarrassingly good value. Let's get into it.
And if you want the daily drip of news and credit card offers, Miles & Points Daily has been covering all the transfer bonuses and loyalty program changes as they drop - well worth bookmarking alongside this newsletter.
Miles & Points Trivia
Here's a quick one to test your knowledge before we get into the deals. Which Hyatt property this week offers the highest value redemption at approximately 7.7 cents per point?
A) Park Hyatt New York (45,000 points/night)
B) Park Hyatt Kyoto (41,000 points/night)
C) Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego (20,000 points/night)
D) Andaz Tokyo (30,000 points/night)
The answer is at the bottom of today's newsletter - keep scrolling!
| 🚨 Deal of the Week: Hong Kong to Frankfurt in Business Class |
Off-peak business class for just 91,000 points
HKG to FRA in Business Class - just 91,000 points one-way at the off-peak rate (versus 145,000 at peak). That's a massive saving on one of the world's great long-haul business class routes.
Available dates: Oct 6 (Tuesday) and Oct 7 (Wednesday). Availability is low, so this is very much a move-fast situation.
Why it's special: The off-peak rate of 91,000 points versus the peak rate of 145,000 points is a 54,000-point saving - that's almost enough for a free Economy redemption on its own. Business class from Hong Kong to Europe at off-peak pricing rarely opens up in October, and this window is short.
The bottom line
If you have the points and flexibility to fly out of Hong Kong on Oct 6 or 7, this is the deal of the week by a wide margin. Search availability on the Cathay Pacific website and check your Asia Miles balance - this one won't last. Europe to Hong Kong availability is more limited and concentrated at the end of October - but the off-peak pricing still makes these very solid redemptions. UK readers, Smart With Points has excellent coverage of Avios-based strategies for these routes if you're booking from the UK side.

Two standout picks before the paywall
🏨 Park Hyatt Kyoto (Kyoto, Japan) - approximately 41,000 Hyatt points per night at an estimated 6.1 cents per point value. This is one of the best Hyatt redemptions available anywhere in the world right now. If you have World of Hyatt points, Kyoto in autumn is the dream.
🏨 The Ritz-Carlton, Tokyo (Tokyo, Japan) - approximately 121,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night at an estimated 3.4 cents per point value. High point cost, but the value holds up well for a property of this calibre. Remember Marriott's 5th night free benefit kicks in on stays of 5+ nights with points.
Premium members get the full hotel redemption breakdown - Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and IHG - just below the paywall.
