If You've Been Sitting on Asia Miles, This Week Is Your Week

There is some genuinely impressive Cathay Pacific award availability open right now across the Pacific - and it is sitting at off-peak rates. We are talking 40,000 Asia Miles one-way in economy from the US to Hong Kong, and business class pricing that makes this one of the best value cabins flying today.

There is also a 25% transfer bonus from Rove Miles to Air Canada Aeroplan running right now - it expires this Saturday (June 6), so if that is on your radar, you have just two days to act. More on that below.

Let's get into it. Deals, hotel steals, and a trivia question to kick things off.

Miles & Points Trivia

This week's trivia is inspired by today's top deals. Here is the question:

Cathay Pacific's Asia Miles program prices Hong Kong to Paris in economy at the off-peak rate this July. How many Asia Miles does that one-way redemption cost?

  • A) 35,000 Asia Miles

  • B) 40,000 Asia Miles

  • C) 45,000 Asia Miles

  • D) 55,000 Asia Miles

The answer is at the bottom of today's newsletter - keep scrolling!

🚨 Deal of the Week: Hong Kong to Paris in Business Class

This is the one that stopped me in my tracks this week.

Route: Hong Kong (HKG) to Paris (CDG) on Cathay Pacific - Business Class

Points Required: Available at off-peak Asia Miles rates - this is a route where business class sweet spot pricing applies and the availability window is open in July.

Available Dates: Jul 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 - five consecutive days of availability right around the Independence Day holiday period. Medium availability, so there is room to plan.

Why is this special? Cathay Pacific business class to Europe from Hong Kong is one of the most coveted redemptions in the Asia Miles sweet spot chart. The cabin product is exceptional - fully flat beds, exceptional service, and one of the best dining experiences in the sky. Getting five consecutive dates of off-peak availability in early July is genuinely unusual.

Cathay Pacific also has that 6.6 Takeoff Surprises promotion running through June 6 with daily promo codes for Singapore departures - so if you are positioning through Singapore, check that out too. Miles & Points Daily has been tracking the promo codes as they update.

How to book: Search on the Cathay Pacific website using your Asia Miles balance, or transfer from a partner program. Set your dates to Jul 3-7 and check business class availability directly.

✈️ Economy Deals: Departing from North America

All of these are Cathay Pacific Asia Miles redemptions at off-peak pricing. Availability is solid across the board for mid-July departures.

  • New York (JFK) to Hong Kong - 40,000 Asia Miles one-way - Economy - High availability - Jul 14, 15, 16, 17, 18

  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Hong Kong - 40,000 Asia Miles one-way - Economy - High availability - Jul 7, 9, 10, 11, 12

  • San Francisco (SFO) to Hong Kong - 40,000 Asia Miles one-way - Economy - High availability - Jul 4, 13, 14, 15, 16

💡 Tip: The Rove Miles to Air Canada Aeroplan transfer bonus (25% extra, ends this Saturday June 6) can stack nicely if you are building an Aeroplan balance for partner award bookings. Check current transfer bonuses before you transfer anything.

✈️ Economy Deals: Departing from Asia-Pacific

Heading outbound from Hong Kong? There is a lot to work with here, all at off-peak Asia Miles pricing.

  • Hong Kong to New York - 40,000 Asia Miles one-way - Economy - High availability - Jul 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

  • Hong Kong to Los Angeles - 40,000 Asia Miles one-way - Economy - High availability - Jul 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

  • Hong Kong to Frankfurt - 45,000 Asia Miles one-way - Economy - High availability - Jul 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

  • Hong Kong to Paris - 45,000 Asia Miles one-way - Economy - Medium availability - Jul 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

  • Hong Kong to Vancouver - 40,000 Asia Miles one-way - Economy - Low availability - Jul 29 (one date, move fast)

The Frankfurt and Paris routes are great if you are based in Hong Kong and want to kick off a European summer. Five days of open economy availability around early July is more than you usually see on these routes at off-peak rates.

🏨 Featured Hotel Redemption

Here is a quick taste of this week's hotel sweet spots - the full list is in the premium section below.

Hyatt Place Kyoto - 9,500 Points Per Night (8.6 Cents Per Point Value)

Yes, you read that right. 9,500 World of Hyatt points per night at a well-reviewed property in Kyoto, delivering 8.6 cents per point in value. That is exceptional by any measure - Hyatt's benchmark value is around 1.7 cents per point, so this is more than five times that.

If you have been accumulating Hyatt points via the Chase World of Hyatt card or through Hyatt stays, Kyoto this summer is a brilliant use of them. Book five nights and the fifth is free.
