This Week's Award Deals Are Heavily Hong Kong-Focused - Here's Why That's Great News

If you've been hoarding Asia Miles or Cathay Pacific points for a special trip, today might genuinely be your day. This week's award availability is unusually concentrated on routes in and out of Hong Kong, and the sweet spot pricing at off-peak rates makes this one of the better windows we've seen in a while.

We've got 19 deals across Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class - spanning North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific departures. There are also some cracking hotel redemptions in the mix, including one Hyatt property in the Maldives that I genuinely couldn't believe when I saw the points rate. More on that below.

One more thing before we dive in - there are several transfer bonuses expiring very soon (some as early as March 28), so make sure you scroll down to the transfer bonuses section. Acting fast on those could meaningfully reduce the points cost on several deals in today's newsletter.

Miles & Points Trivia

Cathay Pacific is one of the most sought-after business class products in the world. But which points currency offers the best sweet spot for booking Cathay Pacific Business Class from London to Hong Kong at off-peak rates?

  • A) American Airlines AAdvantage

  • B) Asia Miles (Cathay Pacific's own program)

  • C) British Airways Avios

  • D) Virgin Atlantic Flying Club

The answer is at the bottom of today's newsletter - keep scrolling!

🚨 Deal of the Week: Cathay Pacific Business Class - London to Hong Kong for 100,000 Points

London (LHR) to Hong Kong (HKG) - Business Class on Cathay Pacific

Just 100,000 Asia Miles one-way at off-peak pricing (vs. 140,000 at peak).

Available: April 27 - Low availability, so move quickly.

Why is this the deal of the week? Cathay Pacific's Business Class on the London to Hong Kong route is genuinely one of the best long-haul business class products you can fly. We're talking fully flat beds, direct aisle access, and the legendary Cathay service on a nearly 12-hour flight. Cash fares on this route regularly hit $3,000-$4,500+ one-way, which puts the value here at roughly 3.0-4.5 cents per point - strong for a straight Asia Miles redemption.

Transfer bonus angle: Chase Ultimate Rewards is currently running a 20% transfer bonus to British Airways Avios through March 31. Avios and Asia Miles are separate programs, but if you're thinking about booking Cathay Pacific using Avios instead, that bonus makes this an even smarter move. UK readers - Smart With Points has a great breakdown of how to use Avios on Cathay routes from the UK.

How to book: Transfer points to Asia Miles, then search and book directly on the Cathay Pacific website. Alternatively, search availability first on our award search tool.

Availability is low and there's only one date showing right now, so if Hong Kong is on your list, do not sit on this one.

✈️ Economy Deals: Departing from North America

There's a solid cluster of off-peak economy availability opening up from West Coast and East Coast gateways to Hong Kong in late April. All priced at 40,000 points one-way.

  • 🚨 New York (JFK/EWR) to Hong Kong - 40,000 points - Available Apr 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 - Medium availability

  • 🚨 Los Angeles to Hong Kong - 40,000 points - Available Apr 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 - Medium availability

  • 🚨 San Francisco to Hong Kong - 40,000 points - Available Apr 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 - Medium availability

  • 🚨 Vancouver to Hong Kong - 40,000 points - Available Apr 24, 27, 28, 29, 30 - Medium availability

The Vancouver to Hong Kong route has the most date flexibility this week with five dates available in late April. All of these are off-peak pricing, saving you 15,000 points compared to peak rates. Search all routes on our award search tool.

✈️ Economy Deals: Departing from Europe

  • 🚨 London to Hong Kong - 45,000 points - Available Apr 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 - Medium availability

  • 🚨 Frankfurt to Hong Kong - 45,000 points - Available Apr 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 - Medium availability

Both London and Frankfurt have strong multi-date availability in economy. At 45,000 points one-way (off-peak), these are solid rates for Europe-Asia travel. Cash fares on this route often run £700-£1,000+, making the points value here around 1.5-2.2 cents per point. Not the flashiest redemption, but very respectable if you're Europe-based and keen on Hong Kong.

✈️ Economy Deals: Departing from Asia-Pacific

  • 🚨 Hong Kong to Paris - 45,000 points - Available Apr 29 - Low availability

  • 🚨 Hong Kong to Frankfurt - 45,000 points - Available Apr 28, 29 - Low availability

  • 🚨 Hong Kong to New York - 40,000 points - Available Apr 24 - Low availability

  • 🚨 Hong Kong to Los Angeles - 40,000 points - Available Apr 24 - Low availability

  • 🚨 Hong Kong to Vancouver - 40,000 points - Available Apr 27, 29, 30 - Low availability

Availability from Hong Kong outbound is generally low, so these are best treated as 'grab it now if it works for your dates' opportunities. The Hong Kong to Vancouver run has three dates showing, which is the most flexibility on the Asia-Pacific departure side.

🏨 Featured Hotel Redemptions

Two standout hotel redemptions this week that deserve a mention before we get to the full list in the premium section.

🏨 Alila Kothaifaru Maldives (Hyatt) - 30,000 Points/Night

This is the one that stopped me in my tracks. The Alila Kothaifaru Maldives is bookable through World of Hyatt for just 30,000 points per night - which our data values at 5.4 cents per point. That is exceptional. The Maldives is one of those bucket-list destinations where cash rates are brutally expensive, which makes this points rate a genuine standout. Don't forget the 5th night free benefit if you're staying 5+ nights.

🏨 Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa (IHG) - Grand Cayman - 70,000 Points/Night

The Kimpton Seafire in Grand Cayman is showing 6.0 cents per point value at 70,000 IHG points per night - making it the highest-value redemption in this week's hotel list. If you've been accumulating IHG points, the Cayman Islands are calling. See the full hotel list below the paywall.
