If You've Been Sitting on Avios, This Weekend Is Your Moment

The Chase 20% transfer bonus to British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Iberia Avios expires on Monday, March 31. That means every 10,000 Chase Ultimate Rewards points you transfer right now becomes 12,000 Avios - and with the deals I'm seeing this week, that's a difference that actually matters.

We've got First Class availability from London to both Chicago and Boston, Business Class wide open across New York, LA, San Francisco, and more - and a genuinely rare Easter window with off-peak pricing still intact on several dates. Let's get into it.

One more heads-up before we dive in: the Cathay Pacific Asia Miles devaluation lands on May 1, 2026. If you've been eyeing a Cathay redemption, Miles & Points Daily had the full breakdown of the award chart changes yesterday - worth a read before you commit any points.

Miles & Points Trivia

British Airways uses a distance-based award chart for Avios redemptions. Approximately how many miles is the London to Chicago route - and why does it matter for your points cost this week?

  • A) Under 2,000 miles - short-haul pricing applies

  • B) Around 3,500 miles - medium-haul pricing applies

  • C) Around 3,950 miles - falls into the 3,001-4,000 mile band

  • D) Over 5,000 miles - long-haul pricing applies

🚨 Deal of the Week: London to Chicago First Class for 68,000 Avios

Route: London (LHR) to Chicago (ORD) on British Airways - First Class

Just 68,000 Avios one-way at off-peak rates

Available dates: Apr 8 (around Easter) and Apr 14 (near Easter)

Availability: Low - move fast on this one

Why it's special: First Class award space on transatlantic routes is genuinely hard to find. BA First to Chicago at off-peak rates - 68,000 Avios versus the peak rate of 80,000 - is a real sweet spot, and finding it around Easter is even more unusual. These two dates are the only ones showing availability right now.

Here's where the Chase transfer bonus makes this even better. With the 20% bonus running through March 31, you only need around 56,700 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to cover the 68,000 Avios. That's exceptional value for a transatlantic First Class seat.

How to book: Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards to British Airways Executive Club before March 31 to capture the 20% bonus. Then search availability directly on the British Airways website or via the Avios.com portal. Note that BA charges fuel surcharges on its own-metal awards, so check the full cash component before booking.

✈️ Economy Deals: Departing from Europe

🏨 Featured Hotel Redemption: Park Hyatt Kyoto

If you have World of Hyatt points sitting idle, the Park Hyatt Kyoto is delivering outstanding value right now. At around 41,000 points per night and an estimated 8.0 cents per point in value, this is one of the best hotel redemptions we track across any program.

The Park Hyatt Kyoto sits in the Higashiyama district with views over the city's temple rooftops. Cash rates at this property are routinely eye-watering - which is exactly why the points rate hits so hard in comparison.

For Marriott Bonvoy holders, the Westin Bora Bora Resort & Spa is showing a remarkable 9.6 cents per point in value at around 76,000 points per night.
