This Week's Big Story
Three words: Asia-Pacific award space. If you've been sitting on a pile of miles with no clear plan, this week's availability dump just handed you one. Cathay Pacific has opened up a serious amount of award seats across its network - Economy, Premium Economy, and yes, Business Class - for September departures. We're talking off-peak pricing on some of the most popular trans-Pacific and Europe-to-Asia routes.
And here's the kicker - there are live transfer bonuses right now that make several of these deals even cheaper in terms of the points you actually need to transfer. I'll walk you through all of it below.
Miles & Points Trivia
This week's question is directly tied to today's deals - let's see how well you know your transfer partners:
Which credit card program currently offers a 30% transfer bonus to British Airways Avios - useful for booking Cathay Pacific awards?
A) Chase Ultimate Rewards
B) Citi ThankYou Rewards
C) Amex Membership Rewards
D) Capital One Miles

🚨 Deal of the Week: Frankfurt to Hong Kong Business Class
Frankfurt (FRA) to Hong Kong (HKG) - Business Class on Cathay Pacific Just 91,000 Asia Miles one-way at off-peak pricing
Available dates: Sep 1, Sep 2, Sep 3 (all in 3-4 weeks), Sep 7 (in 1-2 months)
Availability: Low - don't sleep on this one
Peak pricing on this route would be 145,000 points - so you're saving over 50,000 points by booking these September dates. Off-peak Business Class on a Cathay widebody from Europe is genuinely one of the better sweet spots in the Asia Miles program right now.
Why it's special: Cathay Pacific Business Class on the Frankfurt-Hong Kong route features fully flat beds, excellent catering, and one of the better inflight experiences in the Oneworld alliance. Business class award availability from Europe to Asia is notoriously tight, which makes these September dates a genuine find - especially at off-peak rates.
Transfer bonus angle: The Amex to British Airways Avios 30% bonus runs through September 27 (in 52 days). While BA Avios and Asia Miles are separate currencies, this bonus is a reminder to top up your Avios balance for any Cathay bookings you might make through the BA partner award route instead - partner Business Class awards on Cathay through British Airways are priced at 62,500 Avios one-way from Europe, which after the 30% bonus works out to roughly 48,000 Amex points. Worth comparing both options.
How to book: Search on the Cathay Pacific website using Asia Miles, or check availability through the British Airways partner award search for the Avios route. You can also explore options via our Cathay Pacific award search.
✈️ Economy Deals: Departing from North America
There's a lot of off-peak Economy availability opening up from US and Canadian gateways to Hong Kong this September - and 40,000 points one-way is the consistent price point across the board.
New York (JFK/EWR) to Hong Kong - Economy - 40,000 points one-way - Sep 1-5 (departing in 3-4 weeks) - Availability: High
Los Angeles (LAX) to Hong Kong - Economy - 40,000 points one-way - Sep 1-5 (departing in 3-4 weeks) - Availability: High
San Francisco (SFO) to Hong Kong - Economy - 40,000 points one-way - Sep 1-5 (in 3-4 weeks) - Availability: High
Vancouver (YVR) to Hong Kong - Economy - 40,000 points one-way - Sep 1-5 (in 3-4 weeks) - Availability: High
All of the above are at off-peak rates - peak pricing sits at 55,000 points, so you're saving 15,000 points per ticket by booking September. High availability across all four routes means you have time to plan, but off-peak award space doesn't stick around forever.
💡 Tip: If you'd rather pay cash and compare, Friday Flight Deals tracks cheap cash fares to Asia every week - sometimes cash is the smarter play on these routes.

🏨 Featured Hotel Redemption
Before we get into the full hotel section (in the premium area below), here's one that genuinely jumped out this week:
Park Hyatt New York - New York, NY - Hyatt Points - ~45,000 points/night - 7.5 cents per point value
Seven and a half cents per point on a Hyatt redemption is exceptional - that's the kind of value that makes hoarding World of Hyatt points worthwhile. The Park Hyatt New York regularly runs $600-700+ per night in cash, and at 45,000 points you're squeezing serious value out of each point. If you have a trip to New York on the horizon, this is the move.
